Updates Galore!

I'm a woman of many projects!  Recently I've been wondering whether that's such a good thing and I'm sure many of you wonder the same!  I know there's a number of people who just wish I would focus on 'Pleasantview' and get it finished.  My projects at the moment include Pleasantview, my Quest Legacy, my website, the new forum 'A Sim's Tale' and it's wiki.  I've also got 2 other projects mapped out and will be starting work on them in the not-too-distant future.  BUT, for me this many projects thing is just part of who I am, and I believe that they all help my creativity, which refuses to be contained.  So, no apologies I'm afraid ;)

And on to the updates ...

Pleasantview
I am determined to release the next episode of 'Pleasantview' much quicker than the time it took to release 3.6.  Hopefully you'll be pleased to know that I have filmed almost one third of the entire episode.  You're not going to get many hints at this early stage, but I will tell you that its opening has a dual focus on Angela and Dustin.

Quest Legacy
This has probably been my most neglected project :(  I am two thirds of the way through playing out the next chapter.  However this chapter is taking a lot longer than normal because Claudine travels to all three vacation destinations!  I'd like to have the next chapter released by next weekend.

doons99p.com
My website is a constant work in progress and there are more changes in the wind.  Firstly, I will be removing the 'Machinima Tips' section.  Or rather, I will be pointing people to the Sim's Tale Wiki, where all of my machinima tips will (eventually) be written in full.  Secondly, I am trialling a new comments program, so you will be able to add comments to each episode I release.  I already have this available for the latest 'Pleasantview' episode, feel free to add a comment if you like.

A Sim's Tale - Forum
This new forum is really growing.  We have a new section called 'Critic's Corner' in which anyone can submit machinima or stories for review.  After you have been there for a while (after 50 posts) you can also apply to become a critic yourself.  If you love playing sims or making stories or machinima you are welcome to join!

A Sim's Tale - Wiki
This wiki will contain much important information for sims machinima directors and storytellers.  It has only just begun, but eventually it will have a whole range of useful stuff including cheats, hacks and tutorials.  I will be adding my own movie making tips too.

Future Projects
I'm not going to reveal much yet, but one project is a new machinima series and the other is a story!

So, thanks for reading :)  Feel free to ask any questions!

At long last, here it is!

Yes after many months I have finally released the next episode of Pleasantview. Episode 3.6 is called "Memories" and charts Cassandra's journey down Memory Lane. Any guesses who she might be reminiscing about? ;)

At the moment, as always, the episode is only available on my website, you can see it here.  It is also available on youtube here.

*Beware Spoilers to follow*

In the meantime please feel free to discuss the episode here.  I enjoyed making this episode, I really liked trying to capture the sense of emotional confusion Cassandra is going through following her encounter with Don.  I tried to show that from her perspective she really had a meaningful and loving relationship with Lothario, and we can see that he did have feelings for her too, just that he had feelings for other women too lol!  So, what do you think is going to happen?  Will she agree to meet with him again?  Or will she tell him to go jump!?  I'd love to hear what you think :)

Once again I apologise for the lengthy wait.  I've been having too much fun playing sims 3 and writing my legacy, and of course lately I've been enjoying the new forum 'A Sim's Tale'.  But I am determined to ensure the next episode is released much quicker!

A Sim's Tale - New Forum!

I'd just like to formally announce a new forum I have created called "A Sim's Tale".  I've always wanted to create a forum for sims storytellers, and here it is!

It really is for lovers of the sims - whether you play sims 1, 2 or 3 (or if you're awaiting the sims medieval - which will also be good for stories).  On the forum you can talk about the stories you create, or that just happen, in your game play.  Or the stories you actually write and publish.  Or legacies.  Or machinima.

The forum is still very new and there is only a handful of members, but I hope to see it grow and improve, and become a nice place to hangout :)  So feel free to have a look and join!

*Edit*  Here's the new advertisement for our new forum :)

Yes I'm Still Alive!

Hi all!  I read, with a little bemusement, the comment made on my youtube page recently "I think you're dead now".  Well I can understand why some of you may have thought that, it's been a long time since I've been blogging here or updating on my web page.  But I'm definitely alive and well, and I've just cleared out a few cobwebs ready to give you all some updates.

Firstly, where have I been?  Well I've been having a lot of fun with the Sims 3.  It is soooo much fun!  I have World Adventures and Ambitions, and I cannot wait to get Late night.  I have been experimenting a little with sims 3 machinima - while it doesn't yet have all of the wonderful cheats and hacks available for sims 2 movie making, I have decided that I will definitely create some sims 3 machinima in the future.  I mentioned in a previous blog that I have a sims 3 legacy - it's still going (slowly) and you can read it here.  What about you?  Has anyone been enjoying the sims 3 too?  Any thoughts on the machinima capabilities?

Secondly, I have started to update my Machinima Tips page.  This will probably be a slow process too, but I'll get there ;)  I hope to answer all of the range of questions I regularly receive about making movies on that section of my webpage.

Finally, and most importantly, I have an announcement about Pleasantview.  I'd just like to clarify that while I am definitely interested in Sims 3, I will continue making Pleasantview until I have finished.  I have written 5 seasons of Pleasantview (currently we are in season 3), and if I feel like it I might even write another season.  So ... I am delighted to announce that the next episode is almost finished and will be released soon!  Episode 3.6 is called 'Memories' and features a few characters but focuses mostly on Cassandra.  Here are some pics from the episode:

That's it for now, I promise it won't be long before I release this new installment :)

Nostonia Part 8 - Denouement - Released!

After two and a half years, the final epsiode of Nostonia has been released!  If you voted on my poll (even if you didn't) be sure to check out the guesswork.  Most people believed Katlyn was the murderer ... well now you get to find out once and for all!

I'd like to thank my voice actors for their fantastic efforts to bring my characters to life.  Kendo as the detective Daniel Lambert; Pierre as his assistant Dr James Jarvis; Tawnie33 as Maria; Rupertcanada as Robert; sm-sfe as Katlyn and Anthrocrane as Ruben (among others) - everyone did such a great job and brought my story to life.  Thank-you so much!

I'd also like to thank viewers for watching and supporting me with comments and emails.  I'm sorry it took me so long to conclude, but I enjoyed writing and making it.

I'll miss Nostonia a little bit.  I hope you enjoy the final epsiode :)  Finally we find out, who dun it :0

*WARNING*  Some comments attached to this blog will contain spoilers, so read after you watched ;)

Who Killed Nicholas Von Brukenthal?

Yes!  Finally I have (almost) finished my lengthy murder mystery Nostonia.  I will be releasing it next Friday 14th May.  This has been such a long production for me.  I first thought of the story two and a half years ago and it has taken almost as long to film. Needless to say, people have been very patient with me.  I'm excited to finally be releasing the denouement.

As this is the final episode, I have re-opened the poll asking who you think murdered Nicholas Von Brukenthal.  I will close the voting next Thursday, so get in quick.  If you have voted in the past you may want to vote again as I've noticed votes can 'disappear' whenever I extend the end date.  Feel free to comment here on who you think the murderer is and why.  I can't wait til you all find out who dun it!

Now to website news - if you've checked out my website recently you would have noticed two extra buttons.  One is called 'Downloads' and this is where I intend to put links to popular custom content requests.  I have only two available at the moment but this will grow steadily over time.  The other button is called 'Machinima Tips'.  A few people have requested that I write a guide on how to make sims machinima.  There are already many great guides available, but I'll use this page to either link to other tutorials or add my own.

Now on to something altogether different!  My sims 3 game was collecting dust for quite a long time.  Recently I decided to do something creative with it in the hope to learn more for (maybe) making machinima with it in the future.  So I've embarked on a legacy. "A what?!" I hear you scream.  Yes, a legacy.  I'm secretly enjoying it as I get to play and write a story, so it's a lot of fun.  If you're interested in reading it you can find it here.

That's it for now, I'll be blogging again on Friday when I release the Nostonia denouement.  In the meantime remember to update your vote on my poll, and share your reason here if you like - who do you think murdered Nicholas Von Brukenthal?

3.5 Released!

I have released Pleasantview 3.5 "Dilemmas Downtown".

This was a big job in terms of filming as most of the action take place on community lots and community lots are very difficult as anything can happen! You aren't necessarily in control of all the sims as they come and go. So after much swearing and cursing at unwelcome sims who would spoil an otherwise perfect shot, I managed to get it finished.

I think this is also the longest epsiode I have made for the Pleasantview series - it goes for just over 16 minutes. So when I put it up on youtube on the weekend I will have to divide it into two parts. At the moment it can be seen in full on my site.

This episode sees a range of dilemmas for a number of characters, including Dustin and Gordan, Dina and Nina, and of course Cassandra and Darren. One thing I like about this episode is that we finally get to see where the criminal 'headquarters' are - I've been dropping it into lines throughout the series, but this is the first time I have set a scene there.

Well, I hope you enjoy! Feel free to post any comments or questions :)

Updates for Pleasantview and more

I have been soooooo busy lately! I know a few of you have sent emails and posted comments - I simply haven't replied because my life is chaos at the moment! Hopefully this blog post will answer some questions for you. I'm about to have some time off work so things will calm down, phew!

I plan to finish Pleasantview 3.5 very soon, so be sure to check back for the release date. I hope to have it on my site no later than next Tuesday. This episode is called "Dilemmas Downtown". It's no surprise then that the majority of the action takes place Downtown. A few characters will make an appearance in 3.5, including - Dustin, Gordon, Dina, Nina, Cassandra, Darren, Don and another character who I will keep under wraps for now ;) I have made a little montage of some images from the episode:

In other news I have also updated my 'Five Favourites' page on my website. I have added a beautiful film by Rupertcanada, and a totally intriguing vampire series by Crystalwitchery. These are thoroughly entertaining machinima and well worth your while.

That's it for now, watch this spot for more information :)

Nostonia News

Every week I get questions about Nostonia asking when I'll finally finish it! I have been working on this murder mystery of mine for over 2 years! The final episode is about 75% finished. Thank-you to all those Nostonia fans who have been very patient with me while a sidetrack on to other projects. I will have the final episode released in April. I will be releasing just one Pleasantview episode before then however.
In the meantime, I have released a new trailer for Nostonia, which does have a little bit of previously unseen footage. You can see it on my website for now, I will be uploading it to youtube later in the week. I hope you enjoy! And remember to vote on my Nostonia poll if you haven't already, currently it seems that most of you believe Katlyn did it, well maybe she did ... maybe she didn't :p - not long to go before the murderer is revealed :o

*EDIT* The trailer is now available for viewing on youtube.

Happy Valentine's?

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day? My partner and I don't. We don't go in for the 'commercialisation' of love. But, this didn't stop me from making a little video for the community showcase Valentines competition held by the sims 2 official site last year. I was lucky enough to have my vid featured on their home page for a week! So I thought it was timely to have another look at it.

Of course it was a good excuse to feature one of my favourite songs 'Smooth Operator'. I spent a lot of time on my Sade sim, with a picture of her on a CD I have, trying to get her just right in bodyshop - it took hours! Music clips are not my forte, but I was quite pleased with this, it was fun to make.

So, if you have a few minutes this Valentine's Day take another look at it :)

New website design

I have finally finished my new look website! Well, I say "finished" but in fact it will always be a work in progress. I made this website from scratch using dreamweaver and I have learnt a lot about html, css and even a little about php! If it sounds like I'm speaking gobbledygook, just ignore me and check it out for yourself.

This new design has Pleasantview 1.4 available for streaming. All you have to do is navigate to the Pleasantview 1.4 page and you can watch it! Some of you may know that this episode was taken down from Youtube after someone complained about its content. So now it's readily available for viewing on my website.

In the future I plan to add more pages with tips for making machinima. I will also be adding some more stories to the Pleasantview 'stories' section. At the moment the only story available is 'Dina & Mortimer's Honeymoon', I'll reveal more about coming stories at a later date. First I plan to have a rest from web design and stick with finishing off Nostonia.

So be sure to check out the new look website. Let me know what you think :)

Pleasantview 3.4 released!

Yes I have at long last released the next installment of Pleasantview. Here's the poster -

At the moment this episode, 3.4 "Enchantments" is only available on youtube. I am currently doing a major update of my website, so it won't be available for download until I get my new look website up, which hopefully won't take too long.

So, epsiode 3.4 aims to spice things up a little with some romance and some scheming! People will hopefully learn more about Angela and Dirk's plan to upset Lilith and Dustin. The twins certainly have their supporters don't they? It seems a lot of people support one or the other - Team Lilith or Team Angela? LOL! Well, there's lots more scheming to come anyway ;)

And of course, Darren finally asks a certain someone out - about time don't you think? So the question arises, will Darren's affections be reciprocated? Well, there may be more to learn about these two in 3.5.

Nostonia will be my focus once my new web design is up - so it will be concluded sooner rather than later.

That's it for now, I'll be blogging again once I have published my new look site. In the meantime, feel free to make comments or predictions about 3.4 - it's always fun :)
