Pleasantview 3.9 "Plans"

The latest episode of Pleasantview, "Plans" is now showing.  In 3.9 we see a number of characters come together to plan events that will play out in future episodes - some this season!

Let me know what you think :)

Also, remember to read Dina and Mortimer's Honeymoon and Angela's Diary Entry on my site if you haven't already.  Both of these have additional information that provide viewers with more background about characters and storylines.

This is my final post for 2012.  I'd like to say a big thank you to all my youtube subscribers and blog readers!  Your encouragement and positive feedback is, quite frankly, very nice indeed and gives me the spark to continue being creative with the sims :)

Next year I will be releasing my first novel, so hopefully some of you might like to check that out - only if it interests you of course ;)

I wish you all a wonderfully festive Christmas, or whatever you celebrate, and a happy new year.  I'll be returning to the world of youtube/blogging/simming around mid-January (keep an eye on my website for more info).

Enjoy.

Founder's Day, Youtube, and CC!

The First Annual Founder's Day

Stella Sterling has just enjoyed the first annual founder's day in my Sims 2 Let's Play Legacy.  What does this mean?  She's been 'alive' for a full sim year and it's' time to celebrate :)  This episode was filmed 'live' which means I did the narration as I played since it was just one day.  Here it is -

Youtube

I'm very excited to report that I have been accepted by machinima.com to be a partner with them through youtube!  This means that I have a little more freedom with my channel and I am able to put ads on my videos (although I don't want to go over the top with this).  Thanks so much to all my subscribers for making this happen - without the following my videos have I couldn't have become a partner - so THANK YOU :)

Custom Content

Every week I receive queries about custom content I use in my videos.  Unfortunately I am quite hopeless at remembering where I get my CC from.  I received an email recently from Alex with a very long list of Custom Content used in my videos.  Alex and Mercedes have put this list together and I think we all need to thank them for their time and effort - thanks guys!  I will put this list on my faq page on my website too.

Let's Play The Sims 2 (1.4) "Summer"

The next installment of Stella Sterling's life is out -

Sit back and relax as the adventures of the Sterlings unfold before your eyes :)

This is a short post this week as I am away for the weekend.  I haven't responded to emails and comments this week, so I apologize for that and will get back into the swing of it next week.  Until then, I hope you enjoy this episode!

Simtasia: An Epic

Over the past few months I've been working on a new Sims 3 series that I have called 'Simtasia: An Epic'.  The idea came to me when I was deciding whether to continue with 'Sunset Valley' or not.  I find all of the worlds interesting and I wanted to include a number of characters, settings and storylines that exist outside of Sunset Valley.  So, why not write a series that includes all of them?

'Simtasia' will be set in every available world in the game.  The first season focuses mainly on Sunset Valley and Bridgeport, but we will see other worlds too.  Al Simhara features in the very first episode, albeit 9000 years ago!  You can see why I called it Simtasia, essentially it is the sims world as we know it.

As for characters, of course I cannot include all of them in a meaningful way.  So, I have selected a few key sims from every world to be our major characters - our heroes and our villains - but many, if not all sims will feature as background or minor characters.

So what's the premise of this epic?  We learn in the first episode of an ancient prophecy that reveals the coming of a very powerful sim with the capacity to destroy or save the world, depending on your point of view.  So, those who see her as a hero want to protect her, others plan to erase her.  And who is this prodigious sim?  We'll have to wait and see but she resides in Sunset Valley.

I have released a very small preview of the new series which I hope gives you a little taste of the series to come.

Making machinima with The Sims 3 is becoming much easier with the availability of custom animations.  I find it a quicker process than with The Sims 2 and I am loving it.  I can't wait to bring you the first episode in 2013 :)

Let's Play 1.3 and other stuff

Let's Play The Sims 2, 1.3 is now out:

So you might be wondering what happened to "winter"?  As I say in the video, it's a long story.  Basically I made a whole series of mistakes with my filming and editing and ended up losing everything! That's why we've skipped to spring and you can see that the family has expanded somewhat :)  I'm also still trying to get the sound right.  Hopefully I'll have it perfect by the next ep.

In other news I have started filming the next episode of Pleasantview.  3.9 begins with the Pleasants.  As I was filming there was a fire in their dining room.  This happens a lot, that fireplace is major hazard!  Anyway, I thought it was interesting how Coral, Mary-Sue and Angela all went in to panic mode while one courageous sim soul saved the day.  Here's the footage ...

I thought all you Lilith fans might appreciate this ;)

I'm very excited about next week's blog as I will be revealing more about my upcoming Sims 3 series, Simtasia.  Stay tuned :)

Let's Play The Sims 2 Legacy - Stella's Autumn!

Autumn is my favourite season in real life and in The Sims 2.  I think it's going to be beautiful on The Sims 3 too, can't wait for seasons!!!!

I love the way the leaves change colour, it looks amazing!  So, I have released the next episode which is all about the things that happened for Stella during Autumn.  Remember, with my Let's Plays I won't be showing everything, just the highlights, or what I can fit into a 30 minute video.  I didn't want to go over 30 minutes, as that would be a ridiculous amount of time to be watching a bunch of sims I think.  You may like to watch it in segments rather than sit down to see the whole thing, but if you get some time I hope you enjoy it :)

I'm loving playing The Sims 2 again, it really is a great game, and I think, maybe, I enjoy it more than The Sims 3?  But that might change when seasons is released.

In other news I have started work on Pleasantview 3.9, I hope (fingers crossed) to have it released before Christmas :)

Thanks for reading!

Let's Play The Sims 2 Legacy!

The first episode of my new series is now available for viewing -

This series is a let's play and a legacy.  It will track the lives of Stella Sterling and her cat, Sir Purr-A-Lot, and the children/kittens they have.  The family has a main goal to build up a family business and make it successful so that it can pass on to each new generation.

I've really enjoyed playing and producing this let's play so far.  Playing the game again has been a lot of fun and I'm realising it is very useful for my machinima as I am able to see interactions that I either forgot about or never knew existed.

I have been a little disappointed by some feedback from people complaining that I need to finish Pleasantview.  I have to say I was expecting it, but I still get a little peeved when I see it.  Pleasantview is an absolute priority for me but it takes a lot of time to create and it means that I can only upload a video every 1-3 months.  I've wanted to increase my uploads to youtube and producing let's plays will enable me to do it.  They are quick and easy to make in comparison with machinima series.  If people are not interested in watching a let's play, I understand, but telling me to focus on Pleasantview isn't going to get it finished sooner.  I cannot and will not spend all my time and energy on one project.  Very few people could do this and sustain it for a lengthy period.  To keep Pleasantview fresh and interesting to me I need to do other things too.  Rant over ;)

I apologise for any 'difficult' audio in the video - I am still experimenting with the sound and mic, etc.  Still, I hope some of you enjoy it!

Thanks for watching!

New Stuff!

I've been busy over the past month or two and now that Pleasantview 3.8 has been released I am ready to announce a few other things.

1.  doons99p.com is back!  Call me indecisive (because I am) but I decided to bring my website back with a new look.  I had to refresh my website making skills, but I really enjoyed making it so it wasn't a big deal.  The good news for Pleasantview fans is that 'Dina and Mortimer's Honeymoon' and Angela's diary entry (from 3.7) are all there to see.  I have an FAQ page too which might be of interest :)

2.  I'm making a Let's Play Legacy with The Sims 2.  Some of you may have caught the pilot of a Sims 3 Let's Play that I put up a month or so ago.  Well the idea just wouldn't go away and after watching quite a few Sims 2 LPs I decided to have a go with a version of my own.

This Let's Play is also a legacy and begins with founder Stella Sterling and her trusty cat Sir Purr-A-Lot.  They move into Desiderata Valley, which I haven't really played before, so it's all new.  The aim of this legacy is for Stella to build up a family business that will be passed on with each new generation.

I will edit my footage to show the highlights of each season.  So, after the first day we will see Stella's autumn, then winter and so on.  I have started gameplay and am currently up to spring and I have to say playing The Sims 2 again is a lot of fun.  It's also useful for my machinima as I get to see more interactions and animations that could be really effective in a series.

The Trailer is available for viewing now:

3.  Simtasia: An Epic - I've also been working on a sims 3 series that is gonna be huge!  I won't reveal much in this post aside from this: it will be set in every neighbourhood in the game, and so that's why I've called it an epic.

It will have a large cast and the storyline is rather unruly, but I'm hoping I can keep it all under control.  Due to this new series I will not continue with 'Sunset Valley'.  I know this will disappoint some but the truth is I am inspired by characters and storyline possibilities that all of the neighbourhoods offer and I wanted to branch out.  Obviously Sunset Valley will be included in this new series, so hopefully you can see some of your favourite characters and stories from the Valley :)  This series will be released early 2013, however I will upload a trailer before the new year.

Well that's it for now, thanks for reading :)

Pleasantview (3.8) "Winter Bites"

Without further ado, here it is ...

This was fun to make in many ways, and it's been great to return to machinima.  But, it was also a headache at times.  Mainly because I have a new computer, new screen, new video software, and it all took a lot of getting used to.  I had to re-film some entire scenes due to some really basic errors on my part, so the whole thing took longer than expected.  But, I sat down this morning to finish my last scene and I also managed to get the sound done - which is always the last thing I do - so much to my surprise, I finished it!

3.8 is relatively short compared to my most recent episodes, and when I watched the finished product I found myself wanting more, so god knows what you guys will think!

Spoilers ahead:

What did you think about the ending?  Poor Darren, I really feel for him.  He is so nice, so gentle; whereas Lothario couldn't care less who he steps on, he obviously just cares for himself (doesn't he???).  Let's hope Cassandra can 'make the right choice' but I'm not promising anything ;)

If you're wondering what the 'night' is all about that Nina is referring to in her discussion with Daniel, it is the opening night of Dina's nightclub, Crypt O'.  It's gonna be a big night, and a big episode!

Lots to happen yet in season 3 - remember there are 12 episodes all up in this season.  I'll be making a start on 3.9 soon.

In the meantime, let me know what you think of this episode and ask any questions here.  I hope you enjoy :)

Coming Soon ...

Pleasantview 3.8 is well and truly on its way.  It is called 'Winter Bites' and features quite a few of our local Pleasantview residents, although there is quite a focus on Darren Dreamer.

Here's some pics from the footage:

I've had a few issues while filming which has delayed the whole process, but I am on the homestretch now.  I can't say an exact date for release, but keep checking back over the next two-three weeks.  I hope to have it released asap.

I have also started work on a new Sims 3 series.  More to come on that later :)

Filming has begun!

I've had a lot of feedback from you all, encouraging me to go ahead with 'Pleasantview'.  I am so flattered that over a hundred people voted on my poll and 98% of you want me to continue!  So ... I started filming today.

It was a relief to see that all my files were intact and I didn't have to rebuild or reload anything.  I was also surprised that I remembered all the game cheats and the film techniques I use - like riding a bike :)  I had to purchase the latest version of Corel Video studio, which is a pleasure to edit with.  I'm having a lot of fun.

One thing though.  I can't get the resolution to look exactly the same as it did on the old computer, so the video looks just a little stretched now.  I've spent a bit of time mucking around with it, but I cannot replicate the old 'look' exactly.  But I'm happy with it, I just hope you guys are.

If you go to my new Pleasantview site you will see that I have posted Chapter One of Dina and Mortimer's Honeymoon.  I will be posting more over the coming days and weeks so check back when you can.

Ok, that's about it for now.  Thanks so much for your interest and support, it's very motivational :)  I'm going back to filming now ...

I'm Back!

Well, I never really went away.

I've had a few months off from all things sims.  I've been doing a lot of writing and have recently finished the first draft of my first novel.  It will take a long time for me to get it right before it is ready for publishing, but in the meantime, I'm thinking about returning to machinima.

I recently invested in a new computer and it is such a joy compared with my old one, the poor thing was on its last megabytes.  So the new one is a breeze and has much more capacity.  We have put a lot of games on it and it still has room for more!  I booted up The Sims 2, after copying all my saved games, and it loaded super quickly and runs smooth as silk.  So, I am considering continuing Pleasantview.  I made a new blog dedicated to the series.  I am going to put the honeymoon story there and any other bits and pieces that are relevant.  I am doing this mainly because my website is no longer available.  I have put a poll on this new blog, so if you have an opinion about whether I should continue or not then be sure to vote!  Also, let me know if you would like to see anything else on the Pleasantview blog.

Unfortunately, during the swap over of files, I managed to lose my 'Heather Crosby' game files.  The story associated with it was based on pure game play so I made the decision to simply delete it.  I do apologise to anyone who was enjoying it.

Some of you may also be wondering about Sunset Valley.  I am going to get back to it eventually but am considering marking my return to machinima with an episode of Pleasantview first.

An update

Hello again.

After my last post a lot of people asked me about whether I am working on any machinima and the state of 'Pleasantview' the novel.  I'm afraid everything is on the backburner.  I'm working on my other writing projects mostly.  However, I will be updating 'Heather's Story' on an irregular basis.  I find it fun and relaxing as it is based on gameplay which I like to do every now and then ;)  I'll let you know of any other updates in due course.
